In December 2013, Barrier completed construction of a carport-based solar energy system that made the Clovis Veterans Memorial District facilities completely energy independent.
The project involved the construction of a 160 kilowatt solar structure at the Memorial District site on Fourth Street in Clovis. The solar energy system included 636 monocrystalline solar panels that will double as a carport roof.
The carport structure provides 142 shade-covered parking spots for the facility, and its design includes state-of-the-art LED lighting that is environmentally friendly.
“This project created complete energy independence for the Clovis Veterans Memorial District with a full return on investment in seven to eight years,” described Andy Zavorek, director of sales for Barrier.
Renovated in 2007, the 20,200-square-foot Clovis facility houses a 350-seat auditorium, a ballroom and several meeting rooms.
