Reducing the indoor temp by 25° and the electric bill by 100%.

R21 Poly Foam, Coating, Sealer & 2 MW Solar Energy System

AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION FACILITY

THE CHALLENGE

Amond World’s almond production facility is a 400,000 sq. ft. metal building in Madera, California – in the heart of a region known for its long, blistering hot summers. Keeping the product cool and employees comfortable using traditional climate control systems is prohibitively costly, and does nothing to prevent hot air intrusion.

THE PROCESS

Barrier technicians have applied 3” of R21 poly foam to approximately 25% of the roof surface (100,000 sq. ft. of the 400,000 sq. ft. footprint) and sealed all stations, creating a thick insulative blanket that prevents intrusion by heat, cold and precipitation. To further address the client’s needs, Barrier Solar installed a 2 megawatt solar energy system with a roof-mounted panel array.

THE RESULT

When complete, the facility will meet green building standards and provide the client with a sizeable annual tax deduction. The client’s operation will be further enhanced with a $0 monthly energy bill, with a solar plant that produces more than enough power to meet its needs. Their roof will be leakproof. And in the hottest summer months, the indoor temperature will be reduced by 25 degrees – a benefit to products and employees alike.

“Barrier has done great things for our buildings and our business.”
